Whispers from the Tree Spirit – On the Legacy We Leave Behind

Updated: Jun 10

“As I stand tall, my leaves kissed by the sun, I reach for the sky and my roots reach deep within the ground—I am.”

These are the words I recently channeled from Tree Spirit. Her voice was ancient and still. Not loud or insistent, but quietly ever-present—like a breath you didn’t know you were holding, like truth remembered not learned.

In the presence of this spirit, I felt not only her age and wisdom but her why. Why she continues to stand. Why she offers shade. Why her branches creak with memory and her roots pulse with sacred knowing.

A Legacy Beyond the Body

“I have been here for hundreds of years and my spirit will live on for hundreds more, even once my body is gone.”

Legacy is not what we leave behind—it is what we leave within.

Within the hearts we’ve touched.

Within the breath of the stories we’ve shared.

Within the choices we make while no one is watching.

Like the tree, we may one day return to the soil. But what of our spirit? What vibration will echo in the spaces we once occupied?

This is the invitation:

Not to scramble toward success, but to stand like a tree—rooted in purpose, expansive in offering.

Can You Hear the Earth Speak?

“The air kisses me and carries my words on the wind so I can speak with others. Can you hear me, can you just be still and feel and listen?”

So many of us rush through our days, numbed by the noise. But the tree asks us to return to presence. Not just for peace—but for clarity.

Can you feel the sun without expectation?

Can you listen to the wind without needing to respond?

Can you sit with your soul and ask, “What do I want to be remembered for?”

Not what you did. Not what you owned. But how you made others feel. What light you seeded. What beauty you nourished.

Legacy Reflection Exercise

Set aside 10–15 minutes for this sacred journaling practice. Find a quiet space. Light a candle if you like. And begin:

1. Root Down (Ground)

Close your eyes. Take three deep breaths. Imagine roots growing from your feet into the earth. Feel yourself supported and still.

2. Reflect

Ask yourself these questions and write from the heart:

-If my body left tomorrow, what would I hope lives on in others?

-What are three qualities I want to be remembered for?

-What is one small act I can do this week that aligns with the legacy I wish to leave?

3. Affirm

End your writing with this affirmation (or create your own):

“Like the ancient tree, I offer shade, shelter, and soul. My spirit lives through the kindness I give, the wisdom I share, and the truth I embody. I am a legacy in motion.”

What Will You Leave in Your Wake?

You are here now, breathing in this moment. That is not an accident. You are part of the breath of life, just as the tree exhales what we inhale.

Let your life be an offering—one that nourishes long after your leaves have fallen.

“How will you leave your mark on this beautiful world and her inhabitants?”

The Earth is listening.

Your soul is ready.

Your legacy begins now.
